The white washed houses of Gualchos

Gualchos is one of the attractive, quiet villages south of Granada, with its well looked after white painted houses, and its narrow, serpentine lanes. The views of the sea & the mountains, where the snow can be seen until April or May, give the village its special character.  For everyday needs, there is a small supermarket in the village square, a  fishmongers  and a typical bar, and in the summer months an “heladeria” or ice-cream café. For those who don’t want to go to the bakers, there is a bread delivery van.

Only 10 minutes walk away there is a restaurant with a terrace. 

By a little road up above the village one can reach a mineral water fountain; next to the old wash house, where the local village women did their washing, before water was piped into the houses. Its  tranquility  &  relative  closeness  to  many  interesting  places make Gualchos to a very attractive place to spend a holiday.
